Review: Clinique Even Better Clinical Dark Spot Corrector

I feel like I'm doing a lot of reviews lately. Again today I want to talk about the new Clinique dark spot corrector I got 3 weeks ago. At first I had high hopes about it because I saw advertisements all over the magazines. But I was a little disappointed when I first tested it out at the counter. It felt sticky on my hand. And that day when we were at Sephora, my husband talked me into trying it.

The funny thing is that only a week after, I found out it wasn't the one I saw on Japanese magazines. Even though the key ingredient is the same CL-302, the Asian market calls "derma white brightening essence' and mine is the "even better dark spot corrector". The concepts for both versions are interesting. Asian women want their skin to look like a boiled egg after shells removed but Western women rather be a spotless brown egg.

(dark spot corrector vs. brightening essence)

What it does:
The damage erase. Tests confirm in four weeks, our clinical formula with CL-302 complex dramatically helps reverse the appearance of dark spots, age spots, skin stress, darkening from acne scars. Helps maintain clarity with powerful antioxidants. Gentle enough for extended use, applied twice a day. Daily sunscreen imperative.

What is CL-302 Complex?
The power source of Even Better Clinical. This potent complex containing a rare botanical with exceptional antioxidant properties allows this formula to address even, stubborn dark spots from aging and/or sun damage. And to actually achieve the identical results to a leading prescription ingredient in creating a more even skin tone.

Packaging:
Clinique isn't the most luxurious brand out there. The outside box is pretty plain to me. But I think the bottle design is simple and practical. It's really small, only about the size of my palm. The pump dispenser isn't too tight so I can control how much serum I want.

Price:
$49.50

Suitable for:
All skin type

Top Ingredients:
Water/Aqua/EAU, Dimethicone, Isododecane, Cyclopentasilox-Ane, Polysilicone-11, Butylene Glycol, Ascorbyl Glucoside, Peg-10 Dimethicone, Curcuma Longa (Turmeric) Root Extract, Oryza Sativa (Rice) Bran Extract, Citrus Grandis (Grapefruit) Peel Extract, Hordeum Vulgare (Barley) Extract/Extrait D'ore. Triticum Vulgare (Wheat) Germ Extract, Betula Alba (Birch) Bark Extract, Cucumis Sativus (Cucumber) Fruit Extract...

Scent:
100% fragrance free.

Application:
As instructed, I used it twice a day before moisturizer. Since the pump doesn't dispense a lot of serum, I normally do 2 or 3 pumps for my entire face and neck.

Texture:
It does feel a little thicker and stickier than most of the dark spot serums I used. Luckily it absorbs well so I have no complaints about that.

Thoughts:
I really like how gentle the formula is. It doesn't irritate my skin nor break me out. Maybe 3 weeks isn't long enough for the sun spots to fade, but I did see some other results. My skin is getting smoother and softer. Overall my face looks more radiant and even toned. If I must point out one thing that I'm not totally happy with, I'd say the stickiness. But it's minor. So for someone who's looking for an inexpensive brightening serum, I recommend you check it out.

Why the U.S. doesn't have the whitening one, it sounds so much more attractive, haha! Thanks for the review though!

The egg idea is interesting... I must say, looking-like-egg-white isn't exactly what comes to mind when I try to describe my desired skin lol! Wonder which Clinique genius came up with that ad! :)

I'm looking for a spot corrector, so i might try this one out. Too bad it's not the same as the one in Asia, because I probably would have gotten that one. Thanks for the review!

Actually, I think the Lancome Blanc Expert GN White one works for me. I had some freckles on my cheeks which have disappeared now. I also use it to quicken the process of acne scar fading.
