June Chinese Beauty Magazines and Books (Pic Heavy)

After posting the June Japanese magazine shots, ning* wanted to see more. So here they are. I made the photos a little bigger this time so you can read better.

Choc is a Taiwanese beauty and fashion magazine. I started buying it a couple of months ago and really enjoyed reading it. This summer is all about floral prints, lace and pretty dresses.

How come these Kinaz bags remind me of LV.

And why don't we have these Nike shoes in the America!

One reason that makes me keep on buying the magazine is that I want to follow the makeup lesson here.

This issue is about how to draw red lips for the Summer season.

I also got a Vivi magazine in Chinese version. There're a lot of great information in it. It definitely kept me busy for a while.

For the fashion part, do you vote for French style or American style?

There's also a detailed demonstration on how to achieve the round dolly eye. I'm really liking these technics so this weekend I'm going to give it a try.

Two dolly eye variations. One way to emphasize the eyes is by adding fake bottom lashes in bunches.

Or use cool toned eyeshadow and eyeliner for a spicy dolly eye look.

Curly hair will be a good choice to pair up the dolly eyes.

To complete the look, cute nails are a must.

Si Qi Mi Ma

Si Qi is a famous Taiwanese makeup artist. Her first book Make Up Venus was published a while ago so I don't have it. In the beginning of the book, there're a lot of valuable skincare knowledge which I really like.

Extreme nude makeup - the very first look in her book.

Step by step illustration.

Recommended makeup items.

A tutorial DVD that comes with the book.

I have mixed feelings about this book. I learned a lot from her skincare knowledge and massage technics and such but the most important part, makeup, seems quite weak. The pictures are very tiny and step by step instructions are all squeezed up. I'd prefer pictures than heavy reading. The recommended items don't even seem like the items used in the book. And the DVD is just a medley of previous TV tutorials that can be easily found on the internet. I feel like the book editor didn't do his job properly. So kind of disappointed.

Now let's move on to another book by the Makeup Prince Gu Xiao Wei.

Although both books are about the same size, Gu's version is so much better arranged. I see bigger pictures and less wording. He also taught a lot of "secrets" that I want to know, such as how to achieve the perfect skin canvas for better makeup, what makeup tools are good and how to take care of them, etc.

Gu's suggestion for the makeup brushes and products.

From these artistry looks, I can tell he's really talented and passionate about makeup.

There're also practical makeup examples that everyone can use.

The last book or rather two books are by Kevin, the ultimate makeup king. I've always been a fan of him since I started watching the Queen show.

In his Perfect Makeup book, he focuses on giving lessons that people will take years to learn. The topics cover every aspects for a perfect makeup application, eye brow, eyeshadow, liner, mascara, blush, contouring and lips. He also compares different products and their usage. This picture shows how to groom eye brows.

A great tutorial on how to remove eye makeup.

Step by step instructions for applying eyeshadow.

Party look

In the Makeup Magic book, Kevin turns himself into a makeup doctor. He points out models' facial weakness and provides prescription to cure them. Don't you think the little Kevin doc is so cute? The publisher should make the Kevin doll and bundle it with the book.

Alright I know this is a very long post so I hope it's not too boring for you. Hope everyone have a fun and safe Fourth of July.

Thanks so much for the scans and translation! I thoroughly enjoyed reading this post =]

I used to watch 女人我最大 almost daily a few years back. Back then I enjoyed looking at 小凱老師's work more than 古小偉老師. I feel that the looks that 小凱老師 do is more wearable =]

OMG, you have Kevin's 2 makeup books?? I really really want them, but I don't know where to get them. I think they are only available in Asia, and I can't find them online yet. I really like his step by step tutorials.
